New project on environmental assessment and environmental management

An !dea is part of a consortium, that performs an EU funded project on environmental assessment and environmental management, starting with 1 December 2008 und running until 1 December 2010. For more information please see the following pdf for that at new project "TwoEA-M".

(i) An !dea is part of two bigger project consortia, that submitted proposals for FP7 research projects. The evaluators' decisions will be available in March or April 2009.

(ii) An !dea is part of a team, that is commissioned by the European Commission to elaborate studies on the application and effectiveness of the EC EIA and SEA Directives. Their results should be available in the first half of 2009.

(iii) An !dea is part of an international (Slovak Republic, United Kingdom and Portugal) project consortium, which started to conduct the EU funded project "Promotion of European Education on Environmental Assessment for Third Country Audience".
On April 23 and 24, 2007 an international workshop within the PENTA workshop took place in Graz. You can find its eight presentations on the PENTA website. The presentations of the final workshop, held in Dehradun (India) from 24-26 Sept 2007 in co-operation with the Indian Wildlife Institute, and conclusions are available as well.

(iv) An !dea is a member of the consortium (led by Arcadis and Dvokut Ecro), which is responsible for the EU funded CARDS project "Environmental Assessment of Development Strategies (SEA)" for (and in) Croatia. Please find detailed information via the project`s homepage. The project has been finished on October 31, 2007.

(v) An !dea sent a short term expert to the Romanian PHARE project “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity for Implementing and Enforcing SEA and Reporting Directives” to Bucharest (May 2007). Further missions took place in July and August 2007.

An !dea  could finish its work on numerous research projects within the last years, e.g.:

  • A study commissioned by the Commission's DG Environment, dealing with "Strategic Environmental Assessment and Integration of the Environment into Strategic Decision-Making". This study has been prepared by ICON London in co-operation with partners from UK, Spain, Denmark and Austria (An !dea).   • A research study on "Environmental assessment of legislation - Focussing on Styria" has been supported by the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and the Environment Ombudsman of Styria. A German summary is available: Summary (in German)
  • A study was done on the environmental impact of intended amendments on a part of the Graz development plan (only available in German)
  • Some studies have been elaborated in the context of the indicators of the Local Agenda 21 of the City of Graz (only available in German). A summarizing paper on that has been prepared for the annual meeting of the IAIA (April 2004 in Vancouver).
